Her

Over the past year, I have been collaborating with someone I have never met. This might sound crazy and maybe it is, but it has been the most wonderful and enlightening experience. My grandmother passed away when my mom was only 16 years old, so, unfortunately, I was never able to meet her. But, I often find myself thinking of her. I have been told all my life that I resemble her in many ways. It is not only personality and looks, but also interests, hobbies, passions, quirks, and antics that my family sees in both of us. I have always felt drawn to her and I am finally exploring why.

To get to know her better and to bridge the gap between both of our lives, I decided to dedicate my senior thesis to Leslie, my grandmother who I never had the pleasure of meeting, and how she has indirectly influenced my life.

This collection, I titled Her, is a compilation of print and pattern for industry, screen print, rug, design, mixed media, and fine art.

For this shoot, I compiled several aspects of my collection to re-create a space entirely dedicated to her. Within the space, I designed and constructed the fabric for the dressing table, created the screen printed and mixed media pieces in the background, and wove the rug. The set is also filled with several of her old belongings and photographs. This was such a fun shoot and could not have been completed without the wonderful women tagged below! A huge thank you to them!
